Of particular concern has been his support of slashing Social Security and Medicare, his voting against important veterans benefits and other notable right-wing positions that would do harm to the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Certainly his track record shows that he is a hardline conservative Republican. “Representative Mike Johnson’s inaugural speech was encouraging, with its message of finding common ground. ![]() Going two weeks without an operating House of Representatives was irresponsible, and I believe its effect on military preparedness was emboldening our adversaries abroad. ![]() “I was relieved that the Republicans finally ended their long stalemate and elected a Speaker. He will promote a more inclusive Speaker’s office that puts ‘members first,’ and therefore, puts the ‘people first.’ I’m looking forward to working closely with our new Speaker, and as he said, ‘the People’s House is back in business.’” He will fight for a conservative agenda that will benefit all Americans and move our country forward. “I was happy to vote for my good friend, Mike Johnson, to be the 56th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.
